'Gary Glitter' auditions for 'The X Factor' - Daily Gossip

Ronson's wedding risk, Alex James' pancakes – your music gossip stop

'Gary Glitter' auditions for 'The X Factor' - Daily Gossip
Welcome to the Daily Gossip: your daily stop-off to find out what the stars of the music world have been up to in the tabloids and beyond, with the help of plenty of "anonymous sources".

Today's top gossip:

We didn't see this one coming. According to the red-tops today (March 8) The X Factor bosses are investigating whether disgraced pop star Gary Glitter managed to get an audition on the show yesterday.

The Sun is reporting that, according to witnesses at the audition at London's O2 Arena, fans recognised Glitter queuing and then started shouting abuse at him. Some took pictures of the man, which you can see, while another said they recognised his voice as he spent eight hours in the queue.

Bosses at ITV later confirmed that "production staff were being questioned" over the incident, though they added that they believed the man was not actually Glitter.

From the papers:

Meanwhile, Kate Moss is apparently being considered for a spot as a guest judge on the The X Factor (Daily Mirror).

Mark Ronson sure knows how to take a risk – he's asked The View to serenade him and wife-to-be Josephine De La Baume at the couple's forthcoming wedding (The Sun).

Paul McCartney had a front row seat for his daughter Stella's Paris Fashion Week show yesterday (various).

Amy Winehouse has apparently given £20,000 worth of clothes to an unspecified London charity shop. Might be worth a scour - among the haul are frocks made by the late Alexander McQueen (The Sun).

Noel Gallagher's taste hasn't got too lavish yet, it seems - he dined out at Wagamama in Camden (Daily Star).

George Michael has denied that he and partner Kenny Goss had spit up after newspaper reports suggested they had parted (Daily Mirror).

Finally, today is Shrove Tuesday, and Blur's Alex James has been telling readers of The Sun how to make the perfect pancakes. According to the bassist the dish is the perfect way to "bring the wow factor to your table".

Check back tomorrow for the next Daily Gossip.
