Damon Albarn becomes world music producer

Damon Albarn has turned his hand to producing, teaming up with acclaimed Malian world music duo Amadou And Mariam.

The Blur and Gorillaz man has produced 'Sabali', the first single from the pair's forthcoming album.

'Welcome To Mali', released on November 17, features a host of guests from the world music circuit, including kora player Toumani Diabete, who has previously worked with Albarn on his 'Mali Music' album and Bjork on 'Volta'.

The release is the follow-up to the duo's 2005 Manu Chao-produced album 'Dimanche a Bamako', which was awarded the 'Album Of The Year' prize at the BBC Radio 3 Awards For World Music.
