Blur 'reunite' as 'Damon Albarn's opera celebrates its London residency

Mos Def and Simon Pegg also attend official 'Monkey: A Journey To The West' premiere

Damon Albarn was reunited with his Blur bandmates as he and Jamie Hewlett's opera 'Monkey: A Journey To The West' received its official premiere last night (November 12) for its new London residency.

The show, created with Chinese director Chen Shi-Zheng, is being staged in a specially-erected tent at the Meridian Gardens in Greenwich until December 5.

Making the most of the bespoke venue, the new show incorporated a series of acrobatic displays over the audience's heads, as the characters continued to retell the ancient Chinese story onstage.

Although the opera opened on Saturday (November 8), last night marked the event's official premiere, with those attending including rapper Mos Def, De La Soul, 'Shaun Of The Dead' actor Simon Pegg and TV fashion pundit Gok Wan.

Notably, Blur members Graham Coxon and Alex James were also in attendance, and were seen chatting with their erstwhile frontman Albarn at the party afterwards.
