Dan Sartain plays tiny London gig

US garage-rocker hits the UK capital - with guitar tech in tow

Dan Sartain kicked off his new tour with a gig at London's Luminaire venue last night (August 20).

Taking to the stage shortly after 9:30pm (BST), Sartain launched straight into new song 'I Don't Wanna Go To The Party' - a wiry, frenetic garage-stomper buoyed by an intense guitar-break in the middle.

Flanked by a new two-piece band (drums and bass), the singer keenly pointed out to the crowd that the promoters had provided him with his "first ever guitar tech", should anything go wrong.

After playing a host of new songs, Sartain then announced that "the band are gonna take a little break now, so I'm gonna do some slow-ies for you all," as he strummed the opening chords to 'Flight Of The Finch' from 2006's 'Join Dan Sartain' album.

Taking requests from the audience, and backed only by his drummer, Sartain then played a crowd-pleasing second half of the set which included versions of 'Walk Among The Cobras Part I', 'Hangers On', 'I Wanted It So' and a cover of blues legend Rufus Thomas' 'Tiger Man'.

Speaking to NME.COM after the gig, Sartain said he's currently working on a new album.

"I'm always writing and recording, and at the moment it's no different," he said. "I'll also be coming back to play in the UK in November, hopefully."
