D'Angelo studio footage emerges online – watch D'Angelo Tickets

The soul singer appears to be working on his first new material in 14 years

Footage of soul singer D'Angelo back in the studio has appeared online.

Producer Russell Elevado, who worked on the singer's 2000 album 'Voodoo', has posted three videos from at Los Angeles' Henson Recording Studio onto YouTube.

The first video, the longest of the three, can be watched above. The second and third, which preview tracks labelled 'Sugah Daddy' and 'The Charade', can be watched below. The latter shows session drummer James Gadson, who has previously worked with Quincy Jones and Herbie Hancock.

After releasing two landmark soul albums – 'Brown Sugar' in 1995 and 'Voodoo' in 2000 – D'Angelo, real name Michael Archer, has kept a low profile but began playing sporadically.

In March 2013, D'Angelo performed a rare live show in New York alongside ?uestlove of The Roots at Brooklyn Bowl. The pair played a set comprising new material, old hits and cover versions of Prince, Sly & The Family Stone and The SOS Band.

However, in August (2013), he was forced to pull a string of dates in the US after he was admitted to hospital.
