Danger Mouse and The Shins' James Mercer launch new band
Duo set to release album early next year
Danger Mouse and The Shins frontman James Mercer have announced that they have formed a new band together.
The duo (pictured) are calling themselves Broken Bells, although the name could be changed, reports Pitchfork. They have launched a website, Brokenbells.com, but are yet to release any material online.
The band will release their debut album in early 2010 and are apparently already working on the follow-up.
Mercer and Danger Mouse, real name Brian Burton, have already collaborated previously.
Mercer appeared on 'Dark Night of the Soul', the joint project of Burton and Sparklehorse's Mark Linkous that also featured a host of guest singers including The Strokes' Julian Casablancas, Iggy Pop and Frank Black.
Danger Mouse is also one-half of Gnarls Barkley and has also produced material for Gorillaz, The Black Keys and The Good, The Bad & The Queen among others.
