Major labels battle it out to sign the relative unknown...

DANIEL BEDINGFIELD, currently at Number One for the second week with his debut single 'GOTTA GET THRU THIS' is being chased by Madonna, he revealed this morning (December 10).

Talking on UK morning show The Big Breakfast, the garage sensation said that the Queen Of Pop wanted to sign him to her Maverick label.

He also joked that the singer's husband Guy Ritchie was jealous because - Madonna 'wanted' him!

He told show host Amanda Byram: "Yes, it's true (that- Madonna's after me). Guy doesn't like it! But I've said no because she's married. No, seriously, she just wants to sign me."

Daniel, who was reportedly previously in a Christian band with his sisters, said that he was still in negotiations with Maverick, and is also understood to have had meetings with Polydor as labels battle it out to sign the relative unknown. He wrote 'Gotta Get Thru This' in his bedroom and it then became a hit this summer in Ayia Napa before topping the UK singles chart last week.

Meanwhile, Daniel has apologised to neighbours of his south London flat for keeping them awake at night with bass-heavy dance music.

One 82-year-old said he'd been kept up till 4am. But Daniel told The Sun newspaper this morning: "I'm really sorry. The walls are paper-thin and however much I turned the music down, it still kept everyone awake."

The singer plans to move from the Streatham block of flats once the money comes through from his current hit single - and he's already started work on the follow-up track.
