DANIEL BEDINGFIELD TO REMAIN IN HOSPITAL

DANIEL BEDINGFIELD is to be kept in hospital for at least one week following a car accident in NEW ZEALAND yesterday (January 2).

According to New Zealand television channel TV3, the singer suffered neck injuries and lacerations when the Jeep Cherokee he was driving rolled over on a rural road near the North Island town of Whangarei.

A spokesperson for Bedingfield has said that he will be staying at Whangarei Base Hospital under observation for at least seven days.

As previously reported on NME.COM, the singer had to be cut out of his car following the crash.

New Zealand-born Bedingfield has been in his home country on holiday over the festive period visiting friends and family.

The accident isn't thought to have involved any other vehicles and a passenger, also in the car, escaped unharmed.

A spokesperson for the singer told BBC News that no bones had been broken in the smash. He said: "He did have to be cut out of the car so it was obviously in a bit of a mangled state when he was taken out. I'm sure that they're just making absolutely certain that he's fine."
