'OOH STICK YOU' 2002!
NME.COM learns that the teen duo are writing a single for release early next year...
The teen duo have been writing new material for a single that will "probably" be released in the UK in April 2002, according to a spokesman for the band.
Speaking exclusively to NME.COM, the duo's spokesman revealed that the girls are still looking for a label, but would initially focus their energies on breaking their home country, America, with the release of 'Ooh S tick You'.
"There has been interest in the US," the spokesman said."Alternative Press ran a positive article with Shirley Manson saying Daphne & Celeste were one of her favourite ever girl groups, and Village Voice put the album ['We Didn't Say That'] in their Top Ten albums last year, even though it was an import."
The girls' commercial promise was not fully realised in the UK, according to their spokesman, because "students liked them, but didn't buy their records - nine-year-old kids bought them. Some kids were upset by the lyrics, and many mothers were. We got hundreds of emails complaining about 'U.G.LY.'. It's probably why that single reached Number 18 rather than Number 5."
During their respite from the music scene, Celeste went back to school in New Jersey from where she graduated this September. Meanwhile, Daphne filled her days shopping and acting in an off-Broadway production for a few months.
