The ex-[a]Underworld[/a] man gets his new career off the ground as his old band prepare for V2000...

Darren Emerson is to release his first solo single since splitting with Underworld in September.

The DJ has collaborated with fellow big name turntablist Sasha on a track called 'Scorchio', slated for September 11 through BMG.

The pair first met up while both were DJing in Uruguay last year. The set Emerson used during those dates made up his first solo mix album - also called 'Uruguay' - released through Global Underground in May of this year.

'Scorchio' is the first of a series that will see Sasha getting together with some of the biggest names in dance. An EP on which he worked with Madonna favourite William Orbit is set to follow before the end of the year.

Meanwhile, a spokesperson for Emerson told nme.com that the next release with which he will be associated is a track by Meeker, a band signed to his own Underwater imprint. The single, 'Mountains' will include remixes by Emerson and Lottie.

He will also take off to the US in September for a series of dates before returning to the studio to work on what will be his first solo release proper. His spokesperson added that no final decision had been taken yet on whether it would be an album or EP but was already working through ideas, spending up 18 hours a day in the studio.

Meanwhile Underworld, who headline the dance tent at this coming weekend's V2000 festival (August 19/20), release John Digweed's mix of their single 'Cowgirl' through JBO/V2 on August 21 with their long awaited live album 'Everything, Everything' to follow on September 4. Their already much-vaunted DVD will appear on October 9.
