Datarock sell out Club NME LA

The Norwegian 'new ravers' preview new songs

Datarock played to a sold-out crowd at Club NME LA with Fred Perry Subculture last night (March 28).

The Norwegian 'new ravers' donned their trademark red tracksuits and got the whole place jumping with their tongue-in-cheek mix of synthesisers, guitars and funky rhythms.

"Los Angeles, you're my new family," vocalist Fredrik Saroea told the crowd "We've played 300 shows in 60 countries and LA is our favourite city!"

The band previewed some new tracks during their set, which also included highlights from their 2005 album 'Datarock Datarock'.

Throughout the show, the crowd mimicked the band's pogo dance moves, and a couple of fans joined them on stage for a dance.

"It was fantastic!" a breathless Ketil Mosnes told NME.COM after the show.

"We've been in LA two days and the whole stay has been crazy. And we even got to meet our heroes--Devo," said the bassist/keyboardist.

Also on last night's bill were promising London newcomers Scanners, and The Lady Tigra who brought several audience members up on stage with her to dance.

Resident DJs spun tunes throughout the night.

Datarock's set list was:

'Bring Out The Datarockers'
'Nightfall To Uranus'
'Stay'
'Molly'
'New Song'
'Hair'
'Computer Camp Love'
'I Used To Dance With My Daddy'
'True Stories'
'Sex Me Up'
'Princess'
'Fa-Fa-Fa'
'Bulldozer'
'Maybelline'

Club NME with Fred Perry takes place at Spaceland in the Silver Lake neighbourhood of Los Angeles every Wednesday night.

Next Wednesday (April 4), Russian-born, San Francisco-based Persephone's Bees are set to headline Club NME LA with Fred Perry Subculture.
