Dave Grohl collaborates with Kristeen Young on 'The Pictures Of Sasha Grey' – listen
Foo Fighters man produces and drums on singer's new single
The track is taken from Young's forthcoming album 'The Knife Shift'. Speaking to Billboard about the LP, Grohl described it as being "unlike anything I've done before" and added that it features "piano, drums, bass and guitar. That's it. It's bare, but very deep. Raw, but melodically complex. I love Kristeen. So much. i've never met anyone like her. Neither have you."
Young, meanwhile, has revealed that the song was inspired by her browsing the "vile-spewing comments" posted on the Facebook page of former porn actress Sasha Grey. "They desperately wanted to keep her a 'marked' woman," Young said. "And I loved how she just ignored it all, living her fabulous life. She was truly rising above."
Yesterday (April 30), Foo Fighters shared pictures of the recording sessions for their new album. According to producer Butch Vig, the LP is "almost halfway done" and will see the band experimenting with some challenging recording techniques to keep everyone focused.
The band revealed in January that sessions for their new album were "fucking on" by posting a picture of a row of master tapes labelled 'Foo Fighters LP 8' to their official Instagram. Speaking to BBC Radio 1's Zane Lowe, Grohl said, "I know what it sounds like and I honestly think the entire concept is really going to take people by surprise and it sounds nuts."
