DEATH AT BOWIE GIG
A stagehand suffers a fatal fall just before the star comes on...
David Bowie cancelled last night's (May 6) gig in MIAMI after a stagehand died partway through the show.
A local technician suffered a fatal 50-foot fall as he tried to alter the lighting before the star's arrival. Support act Stereophonics
had just left the stage at the James L Knight Center.
In a statement onDavid Bowie’s official website, he offers his condolences: "David Bowie and his touring company are deeply saddened by the news of this tragic accident and send their sincerest condolences and thoughts to the stagehand's family and friends."
The technician's identity has not been released. Police do not believe the incident to be suspicious.
David Bowie's tour continues in Atlanta tomorrow (May 8).
