David Bowie to curate New York festival

The star will make his full live comeback

David Bowie is to make his long-awaited live comeback when he curates a new music event in his adopted home city of New York.

The star, who put together the Meltdown festival in London in 2002, will be in charge of the inaugural High Line festival, to be held in May 2007 underneath the High Line - a public park being created on top of a long-abandoned elevated railway line on the west side of Manhattan.

Bowie himself will play an outdoor concert, his first full show in the city since 2003. Bar a brief appearance onstage with Arcade Fire at a fashion show last year, he has not been onstage since a health scare in 2004.

He will also select musicians and artists to appear throughout the festival, as was the case at Meltdown.

The star told Billboard: "I've been particularly excited about seeking out emerging artists and giving them a place in a festival that will also feature some very well-known names.”
