David Bowie will debut the music video he made for 'Love Is Lost', at this evening's Mercury Prize ceremony.

The video for the James Murphy remix of 'The Next Day' album track will be played in full during the event, where Bowie is a nominee alongside Disclosure, Arctic Monkeys, Foals and Jake Bugg. Bowie will not attend the ceremony himself.

Shot on a home camera with the help of assistant Jimmy King and best friend Coco Schwab, the 'Love Is Lost' video features a pair of puppets from Bowie's archive. The video, which is described by those close to Bowie as a "strangely moving gothic inflected story line perfect for Halloween", was shot and edited in his office in Mahattan. The only cost incurred in the whole process was the $12.99 (£8.08) needed for a USB stick to download the finished video onto.

David Bowie is currently fourth favourite to win the Mercury Prize with odds of 7/1. He is behind favourite Laura Mvula, Disclosure and Foals according to the latest odds from William Hill.

The latest odds according to William Hill:

8/11 Laura Mvula
