David Byrne to perform for free at Celebrate Brooklyn
He will play at Prospect Park Bandshell on June 8
David Byrne has been announced to perform at the opening night gala of Celebrate Brooklyn, scheduled to take place on June 8.
Byrne will play a set after a cocktails and dinner event at Prospect Park, with tickets to the early evening portion costing anywhere from $325 to $10,000.
His performance, however, is free with a $3 suggested donation to Celebrate Brooklyn, one of New York City's longest- running free outdoor performing arts festivals.
The organisation was launched in 1979 to bring people back into Prospect Park after years of neglect. All Celebrate Brooklyn performances are free but other bands such as MGMT (July 1) and Animal Collective (August 14) will play ticketed shows in the park this year .
