COME GET IT, THEY GOT IT

Producer, DJ and soundtrack composer David Holmes is to combine with legendary and influential free-jazz giants the SUN RA ARKESTRA for a one-off show in his native Belfast next month.

David Holmes, who recently released new mix album 'Come Get It, I Got It', will play with the Arkestra in the city's Conor Hall on May 11. The Arkestra, formerly led by late jazz giant Sun Ra, have been named as a major influence by the likes of Spiritualized, Primal Scream and My Bloody Valentine. The show is part of the annual Cathedral Quarter Arts Festival in Belfast, running from May 2 to 12.

Also on the bill this year is cult author Irvine Welsh reading from 'Porno', his sequel to 'Trainspotting', a screening of 'Born to Lose: The Last Rock 'n' Roll Movie', a film about New York Dolls main man Johnny Thunders by director
Lech Kawolski and the Van-Tastic Day, which features a bus tour of the landmarks associated with Van Morrison and his career and a discussion themed around 'Van Morrison and the Spiritual Quest'.
