SOUL MAN?

De La Soul wear their influences on their sleeves...

PAUL MCCARTNEY has been approached by DE LA SOUL to guest on a new track that borrows the melody of his 'WONDERFUL CHRISTMASTIME'.

The trio are keen to include the as yet untitled track on their forthcoming album, the second in the 'Art Official Intelligence' trilogy.

"It's one of those songs you can turn on the radio and take a long drive to," MC Dave Joliceur told www.sonicnet.com. "We're trying to see if he's going to be down with it."

Joliceur explained that De La Soul had been in touch with McCartney's brother but not the man himself. A demo is on the way.

"We look up to people like that - that's the folks we grew up on, from Paul McCartney to Parliament/Funkadelic, Foreigner, Journey whomever. The folks that we really look up to, we always try to somehow connect with them, the people we love."

However, it appears that the track demo has not yet reached the former Beatle. A spokesperson for McCartney said he knew nothing about the track.
