Death Grips pull out of US festival and cancel all forthcoming live dates
US festival confirms rap group will not perform in Austin, Texas in November
The rap group last performed live in August, three weeks after fans trashed the band's equipment after they failed to appear on stage in Chicago. While Death Grips subsequently cancelled several other US gigs, it has since been claimed their no-show was actually a stunt.
In a tweet sent out this afternoon, Fun Fun Fun Fest revealed that Death Grips would no longer be performing at the festival, which takes place in Austin, Texas between Nov 8-10 and will be headlined this year by MIA, Snoop Dogg and MGMT. Confusingly, the tweet suggests that Death Grips have cancelled a fall (autumn) tour, though Death Grips never officially announced any live dates.
We were really hoping to not be a part of this, but unfortunately Death Grips has canceled their entire Fall tour, including their FFF date.— funfunfunfest (@funfunfunfest) October 16, 2013
Last year, the band became embroiled in a public spat with their former label Epic Records after they self-leaked their album 'No Love, Deep Web' online before its release. The group were eventually dropped in November 2012. In July they announced that they have set up their own record label, Thirdworlds, and confirmed that they will release the album's follow-up in 2014.
