Band ask fans not to buy record

Deep Purple withdraw live album
Deep Purple have asked for one of their live albums to be withdrawn from sale after lead singer Ian Gillan claimed the gig recorded in Birmingham in 1993 was one of their worst ever concerts.

The star added that the album had been re-released without his consent.

Speaking to BBC Radio 4’s 'Today' programme, Gillan attributed the band performance to tensions within the band, adding: “it was coming to the end, it was awful”.

The album, titled ’NEC’, is now being recalled by SonyBMG, who have said they will investigate why the lead singer was not consulted.
