MADONNA'S DEF JAM

Madge's film will follow the career of the Sheffield rockers, famous for asking whether a rock was out of the question, up until their groundbreaking 'Hysteria' tour...

MADONNA is to make a biopic tracing the career of rockers DEF LEPPARD, NME.COM can reveal.

The full-length movie is to be made by MadGuy films, the company set up by Madonna and her husband Guy Ritchie, and will be shown on VH1 later this year.

A spokesperson said that further details are not yet clear, but it is expected to cover their career from the late '70s up until the 'Hysteria' tour in 1988.

Meantime, the band have a gig scheduled for the Reliant Astrodome in Houston on March 1 - just before they enter the studio to begin work on a new album - and have sold 50,000 tickets within 10 days of going on sale.

The gig is a one-off and will be filmed for broadcast on TV later this year.
