NEW 'TONES!

DEFTONES return with their first single in over two years on May 12.

The track 'Minerva' is taken from the band's self-titled fourth album, 'Deftones', which is released on May 19.

Guitarist Stephen Carpenter said the band couldn't wait to get in the studio to record their new album.

He admitted: "We couldn't sit still. We had built up a lot of creative steam on the road and were hitting on all cylinders. You can't just turn that off. We tried relaxing and living like regular civilians but it wasn't happening."

The single and album have been produced by Terry Date, who also produced 2000's 'White Pony'.

One of the album tracks, 'Lucky You', features on the upcoming soundtrack to the 'Matrix' sequel, 'Matrix: Reloaded' .

Deftonesare set to play the main stage at the Download Festival on May 31.
