Deftones have announced details of their long-awaited sixth studio album – the first they will have recorded without bassist Chi Cheng.
The record, entitled 'Diamond Eyes', will be available from May 18. It will be preceded by a free download song, 'Rocket Skates', available from the band's official website, Deftones.com, from tomorrow (February 23).
'Diamond Eyes' will be the first Deftones release to feature stand-in bass player Sergio Vega in place of Cheng, who was severely injured in a car crash in 2008 and subsequently fell into a coma.
The album will be Deftones' first release since 2006's 'Saturday Night Wrist'. The album was produced by Nick Raskulinecz (Foo Fighters, Stone Sour).
The band had previously worked on a new album, 'Eros' which featured recordings with Cheng, but abandoned the sessions due to his condition.
Deftones play this year's Download festival, which takes place at Donington Park on June 11-13.
