Beyonce scores Number One movie at US box office

'Obsessed' takes in $28.6 million in opening weekend.

Beyonce’s latest foray into acting scored her the Number One movie at the US box office over the weekend, taking in $28.6 million.

‘Obsessed’ which also stars Idris Elba, is a ‘Fatal Attraction’-style thriller and sees Beyonce play the wife of a man who is stalked by a work colleague, played by Ali Larter.

The movie was not screened in advance for critics, many of whom offered negative reviews over the weekend, reports the Associated Press.

The movie further solidifies Beyonce as an actress who can draw people to movie theatres, with previous roles in several other successful films including ‘Dreamgirls’ and ’Austin Powers’ Goldmember’.
