Dirty Pretty Things rescue London gig

Dirty Pretty Things rescued their London debut from the brink of disaster last night (March 8).

After years of putting-up with bandmate Pete Doherty's no-shows in The Libertines, fate dealt singer Carl Barât an ironic blow as he was struck down with a severe migraine minutes before stagetime.

The band's packed out show at the King's College had been due to start at 9.30pm, but with still no sign of the band by 10.30pm, drummer Gary Powell emerged onstage and announced that Carl had a migraine but they were "going to try to make the gig happen."

He then played the drum parts to 'Boys In The Band' solo to keep people occupied.

But as the crowd grew increasingly agitated, the day was saved when Dirty Pretty Things finally emerged just after and played an energetic 45 minute set.

The band's current UK tour is now expected to continue as planned.
