Carl Barat overcomes illness to play Isle Of Skye

Carl Barat overcame illness to play with his band Dirty Pretty Things at The Isle Of Skye Festival last night (May 26).

Suffering from a heavy cold and throat problems, Barat was attended at his hotel by the festival’s medical team, as the stops were pulled out to get him back on form.

The band were already without guitarist Anthony Rossamondo, who is presently in New York on personal business. He was replaced by The Paddingtons’ Josh Hubbard, a long-time ally of both Barat and his former Libertines bandmate Pete Doherty.

“We weren’t sure we were going to make it,” guitarist Didz Hammond explained from the stage, “Carl woke up today and he couldn’t speak.”

DPT introduced a new song – provisionally titled ‘Best Face’ at the bash, with the majority of the set coming from their 2006 debut album 'Waterloo To Anywhere'.
