Dirty Pretty Things played in a zoo last night (August 21) as part of the Ibiza Rocks festival.

Carl Barat’s and moved from the usual venue, Bar M in San Antonio, to performing in the old seal enclosure in at the nearby zoo.

“Well, this is one we’ve never done before,” the singer told NME.COM ahead of the performance, adding that they were pleased to return to Ibiza after last year’s show even if they had to compete with parrots for attention, explaining: “I think we’ve matured a lot as a band since then.”

Following support act The Twang, Dirty Pretty Things played in front of a packed crowd mixed with hardcore fans and curious holiday makers, kicking off with B-side ‘Chinese Dogs’.

With a the set including the likes of ‘Doctors And Dealers’, ‘Deadwood’ – which was dedicated to Ibiza Rocks’ transsexual tourbus driver Dizzy – and their first single ‘Bang Bang You’re Dead’, the wild atmosphere in the venue was probably closer to the zoo’s old use rather than the usual gig.

Clearly the show impressed Barat, who after coming off stage pleaded with Ibiza Rocks organisers to be allowed to stay on the island for an extra three days in the festival’s artist villa.

Dirty Pretty Things played:

'Chinese Dogs'
'Gentry Cove'
'Best Face'
'Doctors And Dealers'
'Suits Punks Military'
'Come Closer'
'Blood Thirty Bastards'
'You Fucking Love It'
'Plastic Hearts'
'The Enemy'
'Gin & Milk'
'Last Of The Small Town Playboys'
'Bang Bang You're Dead'

The band are set to keep up their run of unusual venues, playing a prison with The Enemy next week, after which the band say they expect to head to the US for four months to begin work on their second album.
