Disclosure have spoken about the role they played in the production of Sam Smith's Bond theme 'Writing's On The Wall' characterising it as "putting a twist on it."

Speaking with Red Bull, Howard Lawrence of the duo said: "We didn’t have too much involvement but I’m pretty proud we were involved at all. Sam [Smith] and Jimmy [Napes] wrote this incredible song for the Bond theme called 'Writing’s On The Wall' and they then came to us and asked us to give it a bit more of a contemporary feel," the brother's said.

"The song was already fully written and was incredible but it was just Sam with a piano and an orchestra and it sounded very classic – an amazing classic Bond song, like 'Diamonds Are Forever' or 'Goldfinger'. They asked us to put our twist on things and we just added a few little bits and made it a bit more electronic sounding, really quite subtle. But yeah man we helped with a fucking Bond theme! I’m so proud."

Disclosure released their sophomore album 'Caracal' last week, and explained the thinking behind their album collaborations, in particular with Lorde, in the same interview:

"It’s becoming a rare thing for an artist to write everything themselves. Part of the reason we picked most of the collaborators on this album is that they’re not only good singers but they’re really good writers as well. Someone like Lorde writes all of her own stuff and you can hear it in the music. The coherence between the tracks and the style of the lyrics is so strong."

The duo are currently on target to hit the UK number one album spot this week, ahead of Chvrches and New Order.
