Disturbed have hinted that they're about to step out of the live scene for a good while soon, saying they're not sure when they will return to Europe for shows or begin writing new material.

Speaking to NME at Download Festival earlier today (June 12), frontman David Draiman said that the band have yet to think about the follow-up to 2010's 'Asylum'.

He said: "This is our last European run of the current touring cycle. We're not sure when we're going to be back. We're touring the States after this and then a short South American run, but that's it after that."

The frontman added that the band had not begun writing material for their next album, which will be their sixth studio record, as they dislike writing while on tour. He said: "We've certainly not written anything yet. I know Dan [Donegan – guitarist] has written some riffs, but we need to get in the right headspace and we can't do that while we're on the road."

Drainman also said he felt proud to be on a bill which featured many of the bands who rose to fame at the same time as Disturbed including Linkin Park, a band who once opened for Disturbed. "It's heartening and I'm really proud that we've all lasted so long," he said. "What's not so heartening is the bands who aren't here."

Disturbed played the festival's main stage with a set that drew from across their five studio albums, with four songs aired from 'Asylum'. Draiman praised the crowd throughout as they battled driving rain for the duration of their third appearance at the festival.

Disturbed played:

'Asylum'
'The Game'
'Prayer'
'Liberate'
'Land Of Confusion'
'The Animal'
'Inside The Fire'
'Another Way To Die'
'Stupify'
'Ten Thousand Fists'
'Indestructible'
'Down with the Sickness'
