'Taking The Long Way' is crowned Best Album at the Grammys
Dixie Chicks pick up the prize
'Taking The Long Way' by the Dixie Chicks has won the award for Best Album at the Grammy Awards in Los Angeles tonight (February 11).
The Dixie Chicks won in several major categories of the evening, a vindication for the Texas trio that received tremendous criticism and lost several fans after criticising President George W. Bush during a London performance.
"I'm not ready to make nice!" lead singer Natalie Maines exclaimed when accepting the award.
The Dixie Chicks beat out:
Gnarls Barkley - 'St. Elsewhere'
Red Hot Chili Peppers - 'Stadium Arcadium'
Justin Timberlake - 'FutureSex/LoveSounds'
John Mayer - 'Continuum'
