Two new songs showcased at the Shockwaves NME Awards show

Dizzee Rascal played a Shockwaves NME Awards Show tonight (February 17) at London's Shepherd’s Bush Empire, performing two new songs as part of his set.

One of the new songs, ‘Dance With Me’, was the unveiling of a collaboration between Dizzee Rascal and producer/solo artist Calvin Harris.

Opening with ‘I Luv U’, Dizzee Rascal played a high-octane set flanked by fellow rapper Scope and backed up by DJ Semtex.

Crowd favourites such as ‘Just A Rascal’ and ‘Bubbles’ were met with mass cheering and whooping from the crowd, who danced throughout the set, despite security guards’ attempts to make fans in the balconies sit down.

Dizzee Rascal played a brand new song, ‘Ghetto’, introducing it with the shout out: “If you’re from a council estate put your middle finger in the air”.

The new track was reminiscent of his previous hit ‘I Luv U’, featuring the chanted chorus of, “G.H.E.T.T.O.”.

During the song a fan managed to climb on stage, where he gave Dizzee Rascal a low five before leaping into the crowd before a security guard could grab him.

Before playing ‘Sirens’, Rascal led the crowd through a chant of “Fuck the police”, and during the following ‘Fix Up Look Sharp’ the crowd geared up even further, making deafening cheers.

Before playing the final song, ‘Flex’, Dizzee Rascal introduced “some new shit you’ve never heard”. The track in question was ‘Dance With Me’.

Rascal revealed that the song was the produce of recent work with Calvin Harris. A huge departure from Rascal’s raw grime sound, the song boasts a funky disco chart beat and featured the vocals of singer Chrome, who joined Rascal, Semtex and Scope for the song, providing soulful vocals.

After playing ‘Flex’ Rascal shouted, “London city, I fucking love you”, and left the stage after an hour-long set.

Dizzee Rascal played:

‘I Luv U’
‘Paranoid’
‘Where’s Da Gs’
‘Stop Dat’
‘Just A Rascal’
‘World’s Gone Crazy’
‘Bubbles’
‘Temptation’
‘Ghetto’
‘Sirens’
‘Fix Up Look Sharp’
‘Pussy’Ole’
‘Stand Up Tall’
‘Dance With Me’
‘Flex’
