Dizzee Rascal has teamed up with Good Charlotte's Benji Madden to record new material.

The guitarist took to his Twitter page Twitter.com/bejaminmadden.com to announce the news that he's been working on the follow up to the rapper's 2009 album 'Tongue N' Cheek'. He insisted fans will "love" Dizzee's new musical direction.

Madden wrote:

Man just left @DizzeeRascal studio and he has some fire ready to go strictly for his fans. So cold man, you're all going to love it.

Earlier this year, the rapper admitted that he wanted to give his new music more of a rock edge by recruiting Foo Fighters frontman Dave Grohl. That collaboration is currently yet to be confirmed, but Dizzee has teamed up with Arctic Monkeys in the past.

Last month, he signed a "multi-layered" record deal with Universal Music for the first time in his career.

The deal followed Universal's purchase of the recorded music division of EMI for £1.2 billion, which includes artists such as The Beatles, Coldplay and Tinie Tempah.

Dizzee Rascal is expected to release his fifth studio effort in 2012.
