Dizzee Rascal has revealed further details of his forthcoming new album - promising "big pop tunes".

The rapper, who has been working in LA on the follow up to 2009's 'Tongue N' Cheek' with hip hop producer Alex Da Kid and Lady Gaga collaborator RedOne, said he wants to maintain his mainstream appeal on his latest LP.

He told The Sun: "I'm a couple of tracks short of what I want but there are some big tunes done already". He added:

They are big pop songs - I'm not afraid to say it. It worked well for me on the last album.

Earlier this year the rapper revealed that his fifth studio effort will also feature contributions from house producer Erick Morillo and Calvin Harris.

He also said he recently gave up weed to have laser surgery on his eyes. Dizzee added: "I had my eyes lasered a couple of months ago. It has changed my life, man. After the operation I was in bed for two days laying in the dark with these mad goggles on.

The rapper made his return earlier this month at the Evolution Festival in Newcastle.
