Dizzee Rascal has revealed that he was asked to be the voice of the Coco Pops monkey.

The rapper used his Twitter account to post a mocked-up picture of him striking the same pose as the breakfast cereal mascot, Coco, but insisted that he had always had his sights set on being the Milky Bar Kid instead - and also ended his post by using the hash tag - '#Thisracismiskillingmeinside".

He wrote:

REAL TALK! I've just been asked to do the voice over for the coco pops monkey! I always wanted to be the Milky Bar Kid... Oh well!

In July of this year, Prime Minister David Cameron claimed that the Queen was a big fan of Dizzee Rascal after the rapper appeared alongside the likes of Arctic Monkeys, Paul McCartney, Frank Turner and Two Door Cinema Club's Alex Trimble at Danny Boyle's four-hour Olympic Opening Ceremony extravaganza.

Dizzee Rascal's last album, 2009's 'Tongue N' Cheek', became the best-selling of his career. He is currently working on a follow-up due for release later this year. The album, currently untitled, will feature collaborations with Calvin Harris and Erick Morillo.

The hip-hop star claimed in June that the new LP would be full of "big pop tunes", but later insisted that he had still loved making albums rather than chart-topping singles because the LP format allowed him to use "obscene" curse words.
