Django Django have covered The Monkees' 'Porpoise Song'.

The band will release their take on the Gerry Goffin and Carole King penned track – which was originally released in 1968 and featured on the album 'Head' - as part of their 'Late Night Tales' mix, which comes out on May 12. The track will also come out as a special seven-inch on Record Store Day, April 19. Scroll down to listen the new version:

At the start of the year, Django Django revealed that they were in "lockdown" while they worked on their second album. Speaking to NME about the follow up to 2012's Mercury Prize nominated album 'Django Django', drummer Dave Maclean revealed that a hectic touring schedule prohibited the band from entering the recording studio for a while.

He said: "This time last year we were talking about doing the next album. Then we got asked to do the NME Awards Tour and to go to America, all this mad stuff we couldn't turn down." He added that their new music will have a more rave-influenced sound. That said, Dave notes that the mission was to produce a follow up, not a radical reinvention.

He admitted: "We can't seem to escape our sound; Vincent's playing surf guitar, Tommy's playing his John Carpenter keyboards and the harmonies come out. My job is to make sense of all those pieces at the right time."
