DMX has been arrested in Miami after he failed to show for a scheduled court hearing in Phoenix, AZ.
The rapper, whose real name is Earl Simmons checked himself into a Miami hospital on August 12, which was the day he was scheduled to appear in court in Arizona.
As previously reported, the judge held off on issuing a bench warrant for his arrest to give attorney time to provide information to the court regarding his location and reasons for his non-appearance.
Simmons’ lawyer Charles Kozelka told the Associated Press that his client planned to check himself into rehab after admitting himself to the Miami hospital. He said the warrant halted that plan, and was trying to get the rapper to turn himself in at the airport in Miami.
He is facing 11 charges ranging from animal cruelty to drugs charges. His pre-trial appearance on August 12 related to four counts of possession of drug paraphernalia and one count of marijuana possession.
