DMX has had his prison sentence extended due to drug possession behind bars.

The Ruff Ryders rapper, real name Earl Simmons, was arrested in November of last year and sentenced to a year in prison for parole violation. However, he had initially been expected to leave jail today (July 13).

However, it has now transpired that he will spend up to 30 extra days in jail over a total of seven disciplinary infractions, according to Billboard.com.

As well as being found with drugs, the 40-year-old MC broke rules including the failing or refusing of a drug test, smoking, and being disrespectful, disruptive and disorderly.

Meanwhile, DMX has been preparing his new album, which he will get to work properly on after his release. The record, his seventh, is to be called 'Redemption Of The Beast'.
