DOGSTAR MAN!

KEANU REEVES' band Dogstar are to release a new album which includes a cover of THE CARPENTERS''SUPERSTAR'.

The 11-track album is called 'Happy Ending' and will be released through LA-based Ultimatum label in July. The first single taken from the album is expected to be 'Cornerstone'.

The new songs are described by guitarist and singer Bret Domrose as "more pop-aggressive" than their 1996 debut, 'Our Little Visionary', which was only released in Japan.

'Happy Ending' was produced by Michael Vail Blum, who has previously worked with Goo Goo Dolls and Suicidal Tendencies, and Cult and Cheap Trick producer Richie Zito.

Reeves - who yesterday won the MTV Movie Award for Best Male Performance for The Matrix, which also picked up awards for Best Movie and Best Fight - plays bass in Dogstar, whose line-up is completed by Rob Mailhouse on drums.

It's not yet known whether the album will be released in the UK or if the band will visit for live dates.
