Dolly Parton show to open on Broadway

The famed Dolly Parton movie ‘Nine To Five’ is set to open on Broadway in New York, with music and lyrics written by Parton herself.

‘9 to 5: The Musical’ will feature Parton’s Oscar-nominated song of the same name, as well as a further 20 new songs from the country legend.

Parton starred in the movie ‘Nine To Five’ in 1980 alongside Jane Fonda and Lily Tomlin. The musical version will star Allison Janney, Stephanie J. Block, Megan Hilty as the three leading ladies, with Marc Kudisch playing their sexist boss.

The show will open on Broadway in April 2009, and will run for six weeks in Los Angeles in September and October of this year.

Parton cancelled a string of shows earlier this year, including her highly-anticipated slot at SXSW, after suffering a back injury.
