Dolly Parton has spoken about her forthcoming performance at Glastonbury, saying it will be a new experience for her – and for the festival-goers.

Parton will perform on June 29, the final day of the festival, and organiser Emily Eavis has said that she "couldn't be happier" with the booking.

Parton told Bang Showbiz: "I've never done a show that big. I know I'm a different type of artist than they're used to. I suppose they'll either like me or they won't, but I'm going to give it all I've got. I think I can handle it."

Parton's frequent musical partner, Kenny Rogers, with whom Parton scored a hit with 'Islands In The Stream', performed in the Sunday afternoon slot at last year's festival.

The booking that's generated the most dicussion this year is the headline performance and Glastonbury debut of metal band Metallica, which has drawn comment from many fellow performers. Johnny Marr thinks it will be "funny" while Arctic Monkey Alex Turner says it "doesn't add up". Fellow headliners Kasabian have endorsed the Glastonbury organisers' "bold" decision and Mick Jagger, who headlined the festival with The Rolling Stones in 2013, predicts the veteran metal band are "going to be great".
