Dolly Parton has been accused of miming during her Glastonbury set by Twitter users.

A time lapse during the BBC's coverage of the singer's set earlier this afternoon (June 29) led to many viewers suggesting that the country singer was lip synching her set.

Television personality Stephen Fry stepped in to defend Parton, tweeting: "I think I know quite a lot about how TV is made. Why are people saying @DollyParton is miming? She’s fooling me… Believe me, that is not miming. If it appears not always to lip-sync that’s an HD live processor issue. You see it with news reporters."

Parton brought one of the biggest crowds of the weekend to Glastonbury's Pyramid Stage and even penned a special song for the occasion about the Worthy Farm mud. The country music singer came onstage shortly after 4.20pm to rapturous applause from the full capacity crowd, which had spread to every part of the main stage area.

Strutting onstage in a white sparkly suit, she kicked off with 'Baby I'm Burning', before going straight into 'Why'd You Come In Here Lookin' Like That'. "Well, it is such an honour and such a privilege to be here," she said. "I've been waiting a lifetime for this, Glastonbury."

At the end of her set she told a motivational story about looking to "the Lord" for advice, which inspired her to call up Bon Jovi to ask them if they would rework their track 'Lay Your Hands On Me' for her to sing. It was at that point she introduced special guest, Bon Jovi guitarist Richie Sambora.

An emotional finale came when she dedicated her biggest record 'I Will Always Love You' to each member of the audience who, she said, she wanted to know that she will "always love you".
