DOVES SOAR AT END OF TOUR DATE
Hotly-tipped newcomers Doves play storming gig before members [a]All Saints[/a], [a]Chemical Brothers[/a] and Radiohead as debut album hits shops on Monday with a webcast on the same day
The triumphant gig precedes Monday's (April 3) launch of their highly-anticipated debut album 'Lost Souls', set to be one the key releases of the year.
VirtueTV on Monday at 8pm(BST).Playing as a four piece with an additional keyboard player, Doves confirmed expectations with an expansive and driven show that went a long way to cement their position as one of Britain's most fancied new bands.
They also delighted fans by closing the set with a new track, 'New York'. It will not feature on 'Lost Souls'.
Speaking exclusively to nme.com, lead singer Jimi Goodwin revealed that despite the new album not yet being released, work was well under way with its follow up.
"We've got about five or six songs done, I think," he said, "They're pretty demoed up, we're that far in. We've been heading to this little cottage on the Isle of Mull to do them. We went to finish lyrics, me and Andy. We went really to nail the vocals - its just a good place to do lyrics. We went up with just a four track and a mic and yeah, its great."
Meanwhile Colin Greenwood preferred to retain the mystery surrounding the Radiohead album. When asked by nme.com whether there was anything to confirm yet about the album, any song titles, when it was due, etc, he simply said that it was "ticking along nicely".
