Doves team up with London Bulgarian Choir at BBC Electric Proms - video

Doves teamed up with the London Bulgarian Choir last night (October 22) for a special performance as part of the the BBC Electric Proms in London. Watch video footage of the show by clicking below.

The Manchester trio were backed by a 40-strong ensemble who helped the band rework a number of tracks from their back catalogue at the Camden Roundhouse venue.

An excited Jez Williams declared from the stage: "Roundhouse, man! Top!", before the band kicked off their show with 2005 single 'Snowden', with the choir chipping in behind the band.

The choir took centre stage when frontman Jimi Goodwin introduced the ensemble for a choral version of 'Firesuite', their instrumental opener on 2000 debut album 'Lost Souls'.

"Eh, they're giving me tingles again and again," joked Goodwin, as the band pushed on to perform recent single 'Winter Hill'.

Doves went on to play a host of other hit singles, including 'Pounding', 'Black And White Town' and a powerful rendition of 'Kingdom Of Rust'.

Later, 2000's 'Catch The Sun' got a rare outing as Goodwin quipped: "This next song we haven't played for years. So basically the choir bullied us into doing it because they love the arrangement so much."

As Doves went offstage the choir filled in the interval with one of their own songs before the group returned, and were joined by North Indian classical musician Baluji Shrivastav for 'Birds Fly Backwards'.

The trio ended the show with 'There Goes The Fear' but Goodwin refused to leave the stage at the end, demanding to hear more from the choir.

"Do you want some more folk songs?" he asked. "I think we need some more. No curfew, no curfew. Let's hear them sing their hearts out."
