DR DRE was involved in a fight at the second annual VIBE awards show last night (November 15).
Shortly before Snoop Dogg and Quincy Jones were to present Dre with the Vibe Legend Award, an altercation erupted near the stage.
According to MTV News, the rap producer was standing next to his wife when a man approached in a friendly manner, then all of a sudden began throwing punches at Dre’s head.
Bodyguards and members of G-Unit’s entourage jumped in to protect Dre, with some reports claiming that one of them was stabbed in the incident.
A spokesperson for the group had no comment on the fracas.
The show continued ten minutes later, with Dre picking up his award and telling the crowd that he wouldn’t let incidents like that one slow him down.
The audience at Santa Monica’s Barker Hangar were then treated to a performance of ’Drop It Like It’s Hot’ by Snoop Dogg and Pharrell Williams. [/a] also played and was joined by Anthony Hamilton and [a].
The Vibe awards are scheduled to air in the US tonight at 8pm on UPN.
