A man accused of punching hip hop titan Dr Dre at an Awards show last November is to stand trial on an assault charge.
Sufficient evidence had been found against
Jimmy James Johnson, Judge James Dabney, has ruled. In a brawl that followed the allegedly assault, Johnson suffered a collapsed lung, the BBC reports.
Johnson allegedly punched Dre after asking for his autograph. The incident sparked a fight which spread to many of the 1,000 people present at the Vibe Awards. During the fracas, Johnson was allegedly
stabbed by rapper Young Buck, leading to his collapsed lung. Buck is currently on bail awaiting trial. He has pleaded not
guilty.
Dre had been about to receive a lifetime achievement award when he was punched.
