DOCTOR IN THE HOUSE!
The father figure of rap and his protigi send the Brixton Academy crowd wild...
Detroit hip hop star Eminem shared the stage with his mentor, rap legend Dr. Dre, last night (May 1) at LONDON's BRIXTON ACADEMY - DRE's first live UK appearance.
Though billed as 'Special Guest Star', posters in the venue foyer warned fans not to expect a separate Dre set. Instead the renowned producer and self-styled inventor of G-funk joined Eminem after three songs for a rendition of 'Nuthin' But A "G" Thang' from his classic 1992 album 'The Chronic'. The pair then performed another four numbers together, including 'Forgot About Dre' and 'What's The Difference' from Dre's latest album '2001', before Eminem finished the show alone , playing his new single 'The Real Slim Shady', the track already notorious for its less-than-flattering depiction of Christina Aguilera and preceded last night by yet more gentle praise for the teen star. "I'd just like to say that things are OK with me and that fucking little slut," Eminem smirked.
Despite the fact his new album 'The Marshall Mathers LP' is scheduled for release at the end of May on Dr Dre's Aftermath label via Interscope, Eminem restricted new material to a bare minimum. But with Dre returning for an encore of Eminem's mega-hit 'Guilty Conscience', few of the 4,000-plus crowd seemed to care.
