He will be the show's musical guest as well as the host this weekend

Drake has trailed his forthcoming Saturday Night Live appearance with a number of promo trailers.

Click above to watch Drake performing alongside cast members Bobby Moynihan and Jay Pharoah. Drake will appear on the comedy sketch show on January 18, where he will host the show and also appear as the musical guest. The star formerly acted in Canadian teen drama show Degrassi: The Next Generation.

Meanwhile, Drake recently confirmed that he played a role in the transfer of football player Jermain Defoe from Tottenham Hotspur to Toronto FC. Rumours suggested that rapper Drake, who is a friend of Defoe's and also an ambassador for Maple Leaf Sports & Entertainment, which owns Toronto FC, was instrumental in the move. Drake has now confirmed the rumour.

"I don’t know if I had an influence on him coming here," Drake told the Toronto Sun. "I think that all I did was give him the necessary information about a city he didn’t know much about. I told him how great it’s been to me, and how great I assumed it would be to him. We had a great conversation. We built up a personal relationship."

Drake will tour the UK in March, with The Weeknd providing support on all dates.

Drake will play:

Manchester Phones 4u Arena (March 11/12)
Sheffield Motorpoint Arena (14)
Glasgow The Hydro (15)
Nottingham Capital FM Arena (16)
Birmingham NIA (20/21)
Liverpool Echo Arena (22)
London O2 Arena (24/25/26)
