Drake has postponed his entire European tour due to a family emergency.

The rapper has been forced to axe a series of festival dates, including his forthcoming appearances at T In The Park and Oxegen, along with Wireless and two dates at London's O2 Shepherds Bush Empire.

In a statement, he said: "Despite my best hopes, it is apparent that my mother will need surgery earlier than anticipated. In light of this news, I have made the difficult decision to cancel my European tour in order to support her during her recovery, just as she supported me through the years. I cannot thank my European fans enough and look forward to performing abroad soon. I ask everyone to please respect my family's privacy during this time."

Drake's headline shows in London will be rescheduled for November 2010. Ticket holders are being urged to retain their tickets and watch for further announcements in regards to new dates and venues.

The full list of postponed dates is as follows:

Hove Festival (July 2)
Roskilde Festival (3)
London Wireless Festival (4)
Paris La Cigale (5)
Amsterdam Paradiso (7)
Les Ardentes Festival (8)
Oxegen Festival (9)
T In The Park (10)
London O2 Shepherds Bush Empire (12, 13)

Meanwhile, the rapper is being sued by Playboy for an alleged copyright infringement over a song possibly sampled on his debut single.
