'Mercy' songstress' brush with hitman
Duffy was caught up in an assassination plot as a teenager, when a hitman was ordered to kill her mum's husband.
The Welsh songstress, who recently hit Number One with 'Mercy', was put into a safe house in 1998 when police uncovered a plot to have her stepdad Philip Smith murdered by a hitman for £3000.
According to The Sun, the hit was ordered by Smith's ex-wife Dawn Watson, who was eventually jailed along with her new husband for three-and-a-half years.
The newspaper quotes Duffy as saying: "I was so terrified. I felt so ill."
