Earl Sweatshirt has spoken out about his new album, saying he is "just trying to make pretty music".

The Odd Future member took to Twitter to tell fans he was in the middle of finishing the follow-up to his 2010 debut, 'Earl'.

He said: "I anticipate a loss of fans. I also anticipate gaining some. So. You know. Yeah… I hope i lose you as a fan if you only fuck with me cause i rapped about raping girls when i was 15… I fucking love how it sounds. And uhh. Thats what matters… Im gonna go out on a limb and say that you can hear the progression."

The teenage rapper went on to list his collaborators on the record, including fellow Odd Future members Tyler, The Creator, Frank Ocean, Matt Martians and Syd Tha Kyd as well as The Neptunes/Pharrell Williams.

Earlier this year Earl Sweatshirt signed a deal with Columbia Records/Sony to have his own record label imprint, called Tan Cressida.

In March, Earl Sweatshirt rejoined Odd Future live onstage in New York. The estranged rapper had been living at the Coral Reef Academy in Samoa, but made the surprise appearance at the group's gig at the Hammerstein Ballroom.

The show came a week after the rapper released a new song, 'Oldie'. Santigold has also confirmed that she is planning on collaborating with Earl Sweatshirt on a new track.
